*-*«4-, (II These instruments are the same in size, and possess all the features o(the dividers already described, with the addition of a screw-adjustment ofthe needle-point leg, a refinement which aids materially in accurate work, isuseful in ordinary work and which docs not detract in the least from thestiffness and reliability of the tool. CONSTRUCTION. This adjustment is obtained by jointing the lower hall of the needle-point le^ to an intermediate, Long, stiff, steel spring, which is accuratel) fitted 12 THEO. ALTENEDER & SONS, in a groove in the upper half, but is attached only at its upper end, the lowerend being drawn into place against the elasticity of the spring by means of athumb-screw. This gives to the needle-point a very delicate, though rigid, adjustment,which can be used for two purposes, either for correcting any slight inaccura-cies in setting the pencil or pen, or for drawing parallel circles at minutedistances apart.
